The Royal College of Art's annual post graduate degree show had a new name and a new venue this year. Held for the first time in a large pavilion tent in Kensington Gardens, directly opposite the main Royal College of Art building, 'The Great Exhibition' commemorates the 150th birthday of the South Kensington cultural and educational institutions. Detroit Electric unveiled its SP:01 electric sports car April 3 in Detroit. The Lotus-based roadster claims 201 hp from its mid-mounted electric motor and a range of up to 180 miles from its lithium-polymer battery pack. The company is headquartered in Detroit’s Fisher Building; it’s led by former Lotus Engineering and Lotus Group execs Albert Lam, Don Graundstadt and Benjamin Boycott.
BMW recall 1.3 million 5 & 6 Series
BMW is to recall 1.3 million 5 Series and 6 Series cars built between 2003 and 2010 to fix a battery cable cover. It’s been an expensive year for BMW on the recall front. January saw MINI recall 235,000 Cooper and JCW models to fix a faulty auxiliary water pump on the turbo, and now a massive 1.3 million BMW 5 Series and 6 Series cars are being recalled. The cars affected are the BMW 5 and 6 Series built between 2003 and 2010 where BMW has discovered a battery cable cover in the boot may have been mounted incorrectly.
